Research Recruitment Specialist

Position Summary

Our goal is to advance retinal research, offer new treatment opportunities to our community, and provide the highest quality patient care. Austin Retina Associates is seeking a responsible, self-motivated individual to help us enhance recruitment of potential study subjects in a thriving retina practice’s growing research department. Our ideal candidate is passionate about patient care and the administrative aspects of clinical research.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop prescreening strategies to identify and recruit potential subjects for clinical research studies
  • Assist with recruitment phone calls to potential subjects, schedule time to consent at following clinic appointment, and send consents via email
  • Collaborates with the Director of Research (DOR) and senior management to coordinate recruitment needs with ongoing and future clinical study opportunities for all sites
  • Maintains regular communication cadence with clinical and research teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Performs required trainings and obtains applicable certifications necessary to participate in specific study protocols including GCP, IATA, and other protocol-specific training
  • Communicates performance metrics and recruitment progress to senior management and stakeholders
  • Other duties assigned on an as needed basis delegated by Supervisor

Required Attributes

  • Master multiple computer systems including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Teams, Real Time, data management, entry and retrieval
  • Experienced in delivering appropriate communication to patients in addition to the requirements outlined in Study protocol
  • Master the patient experience methodology while addressing multiple priorities
  • Advanced understanding of basic administrative systems gaining proficiency with scheduling, data entry, and communication software
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology and retina terminology
  • High School Diploma or the equivalent, relevant experience, College degree preferred

Position Details

  • Schedule approximately 8 am - 5 pm
  • Hourly pay, FLSA non-exempt, eligible for overtime

Physical Requirements

Prolonged sitting, talking and hearing both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 15 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes viewing multiple computer screens, close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Viewing images and operating computer devices constantly.
